I believe this design to be one of the larger multi-family residential projects to utilize the Prairie influence to such a degree. The Prairie detailing was designed to enhance and reinforce the simple beauty of the buildings and their site.
My task was to bring this philosophy to buildings in which the floor plan, footprint, roof, and fenestration were designed by architect Henry Kanasawa. The integrity of his initial design afforded me a beautiful canvas of form on which to weave a prairie tapestry.
Working independently, the collective efforts of the developer/client: Urban Land Interests, the builder: Krupp Construction, and the design team combined to create more than we might have reached individually…
The Democracy of the Prairie.
